Maintenance on Lac La Ronge Dam will affect water levels: officials

Oct 15, 2017 | 3:55 PM

As the Water Security Agency (WSA) conducts maintenance on the Lac La Ronge Dam, outflows from the structure will be reduced and will impact surrounding water levels.

The WSA says flows will drop from 85 cubic metres per second to 5 m3/s for five to seven days beginning on Monday, Oct. 16.

During this period, the agency estimates water levels in Lac La Ronge will increase by approximately four millimetres per day.  Following the work, the structure will be re-opened to allow the lake to drop to more typical levels prior to snowmelt runoff in 2018.

The temporary reduction of outflow is not expected to impact fish downstream of the structure.
