Sep 21, 2017 | 12:00 PM

Over a quarter of the region’s crops have been combined, well-ahead what is expected this time of year.

Thirty-seven per cent of the crop is in the bin, up from 12 per cent last week and 10 per cent ahead of the five-year average. Thirty-eight per cent of crop is swathed or ready to straight-cut.

Durum grades in the region are estimated as 25 per cent top quality, while only 14 per cent of estimated field pea grades fair the same.

No rain was reported in the region during the previous week. Topsoil moisture conditions have worsened with the lack of rain, strong winds and warm temperatures. Across the region, topsoil moisture conditions on cropland are rated as 32 per cent adequate and 53 per cent short. Hay land and pasture topsoil moisture is rated as 40 per cent adequate and 44 per cent short.
