May 31, 2017 | 2:00 PM

An accused killer pleaded not guilty this morning in a Prince Albert courtroom.

Prince Albert RCMP received a report of a possible assault at a camper trailer a few kilometres west of Christopher Lake in the early morning hours of Oct. 2, 2016. When they arrived at the trailer, officers discovered signs of an altercation outside. Inside the trailer police found a deceased man who was later identified as 37-year-old Christopher Lee Durocher.

Ryan Clark, 28, of Paddockwood, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with Durocher’s death following a five-month investigation by RCMP. He was arrested without incident at a Paddockwood residence March 1 and has been held in custody ever since.

Clark, bearded and dressed in a grey prisoner’s uniform, appeared over video link from Prince Albert Correctional Centre this morning to enter his not-guilty plea. He elected to be tried at the Court of Queen’s Bench by a judge alone, and a preliminary inquiry is set to begin Sept. 20.
