SUV drives into P.A. pet store

May 25, 2017 | 1:57 PM

Employees of Prince Albert’s Pet Valu had a bit of a shock early this afternoon when a maroon Jeep smashed into their front entrance at roughly 1:15 p.m., shattering the glass doors.

Police, ambulance and fire crews responded quickly, but no injuries were reported. The Jeep was moved away from the store, and firefighters swept up much of the broken glass. The female driver was reportedly shaken up by the incident, which police on the scene said was caused by her foot slipping off the brake pedal and onto the gas.

“Customers in the store heard it,” Jared Gola, who was working at the adjoining store at the time, said. “I walked in the back and saw a car up on the sidewalk had plowed into both the doors.”

A Pet Valu employee said the store is closed while staff work to clean up, and may not reopen today.
