P.A. traffic stop leads to 2 arrests

A traffic stop leads Prince Albert police to the arrest two individuals facing a combined total of 23 separate charges. 

On March 24, at roughly 10:15 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle in the 900 Block of Fourth St. E.

Police said the driver was behaving suspiciously, and could not locate a valid driver’s license. Upon search, officers found the man had a pouch of ammunition strapped to his chest.

The vehicle was searched and a sawed-off shotgun was found under a blanket on the middle console of the front seat.

A female passenger was also arrested for outstanding warrants in Saskatoon. She was also searched, and police found on her a small baggie of methamphetamine. 

The 37-year-old male from Saskatoon is facing nine charges including unlawful transport of a firearm, unlawful carrying or transporting of ammunition, and possess a loaded prohibited firearm and defacing a serial number on a firearm.

The 27-year-old female from Prince Albert is facing 14 charges including unlawful transport of a firearm, unlawful carrying or transporting ammunition, and four breaches of prior court orders and possession of methamphetamine.

Both suspects make their first appearance in provincial court today.
