Capital campaign for Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan spearheaded by Mosaic Company

A capital campaign for the Children's Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan (CHFS) is being spearheaded by Mosaic Company's $4 million donation.

Senior Vice-President of Potash Operations for Mosaic Norm Beug said it will cover the costs of advertising so that all donations made to the campaign go straight to the hospital.

“Because most people do want to know that they're money goes directly to the cause, so this will help them do that,” said Beug.

Health Minister Don McMorris is excited about Mosaic's contribution, and said the government isn't afraid to get help from the private sector.

“What foundations tend to do is capital campaigns, but the day to day delivery of health care is the responsibility of the provincial government.”

The campaign's Co-Chair Jim Yuel said the $200 million contribution from the provincial government will only cover basic infrastructure costs, which is why the campaign is needed.

“This pays for the extras that are going to be able to give you real child friendly designs in the rooms,” said Yuel, which would include furnishing play areas and art rooms.

“Our minimum target is $25 million, and I'd like to have it all totally wrapped up by the end of 2012.”

Yuel said they'll raise the money through a combination of events and individual and corporate donations.
