Jul 28, 2015 | 5:30 PM

The 2014 public accounts were released at city council on Monday afternoon.

The list, which is released annually before September 1 as required by The Cities act, details city expenditures in regards to public accounts.

The city’s revenue increased over $6.3 million and its expenses increased over $3.3 million.

Total payroll for the City of Prince Albert saw an increase of over $2.5 million in 2014.

The report indicates that in 2014 the city paid its employees $39,908,773.12. An increase of $2,805,602.33, from the $37,103,170.79 paid in 2013.

There were 103 City of Prince Albert employees that earned over six digits, an increase from the 78 six-digit earners from 2013.

Of those earning over $100,000, 75 were members of the City of Prince Albert Police Service.

Police Service is the highest among the city’s expenditures at $18.3 million. The second highest expenditure is Water Utility Services at over $15.5 million.

Director of financial services Joe Day says police salary is affected by collective agreement provisions and includes retroactive lump sum payments from past years.

“I think it’s fair to say that whenever the city negotiates with the police union, they do compare themselves with other municipalities within Western Canada,” said Day. “As far as rates of pay and the PA Police Service makes — sure, they are comparable to other police services in Canada.”
