PHOTOS: Prince Albert Street Fair shows the people a good time

It’s been an exciting day for downtown Prince Albert as the 12 Annual Street Fair took over Central Avenue.

At 9 a.m. seven blocks of Central Avenue were set up, full of activities for people of all ages.

Sidewalk sales, bouncy castles, performances on stage by Ballet n’ All That Jazz, face painting, food vendors and much more kept the crowds entertained. Salsa dancing lessons were even on the schedule.

According to the Prince Albert Downtown Business Improvement District website, the Street Fair is one of Prince Albert’s most attended festivals with up to 6,000 people each year.

The Street Fair will be running until 5 p.m.

Municipal Heritage Award handed out

Local Contractor firm RNF Ventures took home another award for their work revamping downtown.

Their headquarters at 811 Central Ave. have garnered a lot of attention. After the company bought the block last November, they decided to restore it instead of rebuilding.

In recognition of keeping the historical building’s character, the company has also won a grant from the city and a Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan Architectural Heritage Award.

“It’s an honour, it really is,” said president Kelly Miller. “It’s nice to be recognized…but we just did it because it’s what we do.”

Miller said they initially didn’t intend to restore the building, built in 1901, but were inspired by its history.
