Leslie Ivan Roderick Black, the man accused of attacking Marlene Bird last summer, has pleaded guilty to attempted murder.

Black, 29, made an appearance at the Prince Albert Provincial Court on Tuesday morning. He has been remanded for a 60-day psychiatric assessment, which can be extended.

He was charged with aggravated sexual assault and attempted murder in connection to the assault on Bird June 1, 2014. An arrest was made after police searched his home.

Sentencing for Black has been adjourned to June 26. Once sentencing is complete, the second charge of aggravated sex assault will be dropped, according to senior Crown prosecutor John Morrall.
