The family of suspect Steven O’Shaughnessy has released a statement in the wake of a murder-suicide this week.

Latasha Gosling, 27, and three children Jenika, Janayah and Landen, were killed by O’Shaughnessy at their home in Tisdale. O’Shaughnessy took his six-month-old baby and drove to Prince Albert where he took his own life. The baby was not physically hurt and is in the care of family.

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the recent tragic events in Tisdale and Prince Albert. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims’ family and friends. There are no words to express how terrible we feel for the loss of life and ensuing grief. Steven had no history of violence. However, he had ongoing struggles with mental health issues,” the statement from O’Shaughnessy’s family reads.

“The Gosling family does not deserve this. We will likely never know why this senseless act occurred. At this time, more than ever, we are turning toward the support and love of family and friends to begin the healing process.”
