O’Shaughnessy had mental health issues, according to family

Apr 23, 2015 | 2:01 PM

The cousin of the victims of Tuesday’s suicide-murder said the killer sent pictures of his victims’ bodies via cellphone to the children’s father.

Steve O’Shaughnessy is suspected of killing Latasha Gosling, 27, and her children, Landen, Janayah, and Jenika in Tisdale. He was found dead in Prince Albert home with his unharmed six-month-old daughter.

Gosling’s cousin Tim Funk said when the father, Jason Gosling, saw the disturbing images he called Mounties. Police found the bodies in the mobile home.

Funk describes O’Shaugnessy as controlling and jealous.

O’Shaughnessy’s family had tried to get him help, according to his sister.

paNOW is not identifying her due the sensitive nature of the case.

“We have been trying to get him help for years and we thought he was in the clear. We loved him then and we love him now,” she said on social media.

“We loved Latasha and the kids as our own as well. This whole thing was a complete shock to us all,” she said.

O’Shaughnessy’s sister said she will remember her brother as a loving, kind-hearted soul who always looked out for her. The actions on Tuesday have “shattered” their family, she said.

Another person posting on social media said he went to high school with O’Shaughnessy.

“It was evident he suffered from something going on mentally,” the post on Instagram said.

Friend suspected something was wrong

Josée Chabot was good friends with Latasha Gosling and had known her for three years. On Thursday, she was at the trailer park memorial in Tisdale remembering how she just saw Gosling and her four kids a couple days ago and thought something was wrong.

“I carried (the six-month-old baby) in her carseat into the house and I picked her out of the carseat and I gave her a big hug,” Chabot said, crying.

“Something was wrong with Tasha. She just wouldn’t talk to me,” Chabot said.

Chabot said she didn’t see this tragedy coming because Gosling, O’Shaughnessy and the kids looked like a happy family.

“That’s what made everybody so jealous. It’s hard to have three kids from another relationship and then to find a man who’s willing to take those kids in as his own. He did more than what a lot of other men would do. They called him ‘daddy’ and he spoiled them and helped Tasha financially,” Chabot said.

Chabot has fond memories of each of the kids and said she is still in shock.

“Nobody ever saw it coming. Nobody ever knew Steve was going to do that. Had we have known, we would have interfered before,” Chabot said.

Neighbour sees suspect arrive in P.A.

There are also new details coming to light about some of the events that took place in Prince Albert between Tuesday and Wednesday.

The suspect was seen by neighbour John Urquhart pulling up to the home in Prince Albert with a Kia SUV on Tuesday afternoon.

Urquhart said he saw him pull a child seat from the vehicle. He said he believed O’Shaughnessy was the son of the owners of the home.

News Talk Radio has learned O’Shaughnessy’s family members did reside in the home.
