Lehner leads St. Mary to runaway championship at HS Track & Field meet

St. Mary is the best in Saskatchewan when it comes to high school track and field.

The Prince Albert school ran away with the Provincial team title in Moose Jaw outdistancing Saskatoon Holy Cross by over 100 points. 

The Marauders earned 566.5 points while capturing 20 medals (9 Gold, 7 Silver, 4 Bronze).

Katelyn Lehner won the Senior Girls aggregate title with 72 points. She grabbed four gold medals with first place finishes in the 80 metre hurdles, 100 & 200 metre sprints as well as long jump. Morgan Borstmayer of St Brieux was second to Lehner with 60 points as she won gold in triple jump and silver in long jump. 

Amanda Lepage of St. Mary made quite a splash in her provincial debut.  She was second in the Midget Girls aggregate while capturing four medals. In addition to gold in the 200 metres, she took silver in to 100 and bronze in the 400 as well as long jump.

Two young local throwers also turned in outstanding performances. St. Mary's Taylor Issel won gold in Midget Girls Javelin, while claiming silver's in shot put and discus. Mathew Meyer of Carlton grabbed gold medals in Midget Boys discus and shot put.
