Buckland Fire & Rescue dinner raises funds for gear

A few hundred guests gathered at the Prince Albert Exhibition Centre’s main hall for the fourth annual surf and turf hosted by Buckland Fire and Rescue Saturday evening.

The event both honoured the volunteer firefighters that serve in the RM of Buckland and raised funds for new personal protective gear.

However, a few could not make it because they were tending to an emergency in Buckland.

“We have six of them [firefighters], that are on a grass and bush and threatening house fire that they’re just about mopping up,” Fire Chief Jim Miller told attendees during his after-dinner speech.

The items that the money raised at Saturday’s event will go towards include turnout gear and breathing equipment.
