A Saskatoon Army Cadet is gearing up for an expedition to Mount Everest.

Seventeen-year-old Grayson Beaudin has been chosen as one of a select few across Canada to take part in the trip.

He says it certainly wasn't an easy process.

“We had to have a minimum gold level standard of fitness in the army cadet program but then on top of that after we got accepted they sent us training plans to follow and it involves a lot of running and a lot of cardio work,” said Beaudin.

The Master Warrant Officer leaves for Nepal on Saturday.

He'll make a trek up to Everest base camp, take in Sherpa culture, and even take a high-altitude white-water rafting trip.
