The 26th annual Power 99 Chili Championship raised more than $13,000 for Children’s Haven at the Prince Albert Inn on Saturday.

The event was a huge success, said Children’s Haven executive director Lynda Douglas, “It was the best chili cook-off we’ve ever had, we raised $13,100 … that’s the highest total we’ve ever had for the chili cook-off in 26 years so we are just delighted,” she said.

The funds raised will be put towards operational expenditures at Children’s Haven, said Douglas “All of this money goes to run our household.”

Twelve teams put their chili to the test at the event but Jessica Hamilton and Shyla Rothwell bested them all and took home the championship with their tasty batch.
