Prince Albert Police round-up

A man who allegedly stole thousands of dollars worth of goods faces charges in connection to a theft at a Prince Albert business.

Last Tuesday, Prince Albert Police were called to a business in the 300 block of 17th Street West.
When they arrived police ran into a man who was leaving the area of the business, and they stopped and questioned him.

After running a background check on the man, police found he was wanted for alcohol-related charges.

Police say they discovered blood on the man and at the scene of the crime and were able to connect the two.

Damian Justin Naytowhow, 24, of Sturgeon Lake, was arrested on scene and charged with break and enter.

Close to $1,200 in stolen materials were recovered, however $2,000 worth of stolen goods is still missing. The accused also allegedly caused an estimated $3,000 in damage to the business itself.

Naytowhow appeared in court Feb. 28.

Grab and Run

Late Tuesday night, police arrested an intoxicated man was arrested in a parking lot in the 3400 block of Second Avenue West.

He had attempted to steal a toolbox from a parked truck and make off with it.

A security officer on scene, with the help of a bystander was able to stop the man until police arrived.

Kelly Morin, 32, of Prince Albert, has been charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of recognizance and was remanded into custody.

He appeared in provincial court on Feb. 27.

Break and Enters

Police were called to respond to a number of break and enters over the weekend.

Three separate incidents kept police on their toes in the 500 block of 23rd Street East, the 300 block of River Street East and the 300 block of 19th Street West.

As well, police are looking into random occurrences of vandalism to vehicle windows.

There have been several reports of car windows being smashed but nothing stolen around various parts of Prince Albert.

Police are currently investigating both series of crimes.

They ask that the public to immediately contact the police if they witness any suspicious activity.
