Charlene Miller running for re-election in ward one

Aug 16, 2012 | 12:18 PM

Prince Albert’s city election is coming up on October 24th.

Ward 1 Councilor Charlene Miller will be running for a second term for her current position.

Miller, who was first elected in 2009, has been employed by the Prince Albert Health Region for 17 years and has lived in the West Flat for most of her life.

She’s married and has three children and three step-children.

Miller, an active member in her community, has sat on numerous committees, acted as Deputy Mayor several times over her term, and has not missed a single city council meeting throughout her three year term.

She has been working hard to improve conditions of her ward, in which she’s a resident, but has been met with resistance each time she’s proposed improvements or changes, and has found that her ward is left behind often while other areas of the city receive more attention.

She said she’d like the opportunity to continue fighting for her ward, and is working towards getting a fair distribution of funds and serves throughout the city.

“I believe I have worked hard to represent the people of Ward 1. As a resident of this ward, I know the concerns and issues. I am proud of the work I have done over the past three years, however there is still much to be done. I am prepared to continue to work diligently to address the concerns of Ward 1 residents and to continue to act in the best interest of all citizens of Prince Albert,” Miller said in a release.

Until the election on October 24th, Miller will be knocking on doors leading up to then.

“I’m always accessible by phone or email and I would encourage Ward 1 residents not to hesitate to contact me with any issue they may want to discuss or make me aware of,” Miller said in a release.
