Inquest into death of First Nations man to begin next week

Nov 17, 2010 | 9:44 AM

A coroner's inquest has been scheduled nearly two years after a 19-year-old man escaped police custody and froze to death.

In January 2009 Kyle Lariviere was picked up for public intoxication, but managed to escape out the back of a police cruiser.

He was later found frozen to death on a snowmobile trail.

At the time Lariverie's family criticized the RCMP for letting 12 hours go by before giving notice of the escape.
