P.A. chamber gets “On Track”

Sep 30, 2011 | 5:17 PM

It is a campaign designed to keep the economic momentum going by highlighting the positive business stories in Saskatchewan.

Today the Prince Albert & District Chamber of Commerce became the latest to join the “On Track” campaign, spearheaded by the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce.

It was launched this summer to be a positive voice for business in the lead up to the provincial election, said the provincial chamber's CEO Steve McLellan.

“During the election process … there is often a lot of negative media, different opinions are thrown out there and often the business community is positioned in a light that we don’t think is accurate,” he said. “By using traditional and non-traditional media platforms we are getting the message we want out there.”

“We want to celebrate those businesses and organizations that are embracing the prosperity and driving it to new heights. These businesses are training their staff at levels that we’ve never seen before, they are hiring new people and creating new jobs.”

The initiative is something, Doug Patrick, chairperson of the Prince Albert & District Chamber said they will embrace.

“We’re up to it,” Patrick said. “We have the communities engaging, we have businesses engaging in it. There is youth here, there is optimism, there is progress that is being made and we just want to keep promoting that.”

Saskatchewan residents can expect to experience the campaign in the form of profiles on various businesses across different media.
