Mintos slide in standings after two losses

Feb 10, 2019 | 7:00 PM

The Prince Albert Mintos had a nice six-game winning streak heading into the weekend, but now, they’re trying to get out of a hole.

The Mintos lost both of their games in the south part of the province, falling 5-2 to the Notre Dame Hounds (fourth place, 24-12-2-2) on Saturday and 5-1 to the Swift Current Legionnaires (fifth place, 23-13-1-1).

With the defeats, the Mintos fall to sixth place with a 22-17-0-2 record. They’re two points back of the Legionnaires for fifth place, but have played three more games.

The Mintos just have three more games left in the regular season, before they begin the playoffs.

They’ll take another trip down south to face the Yorkton Maulers on Feb. 16 and the Regina Pat Canadians on Feb. 17. They’ll cap off the regular season by playing the Saskatoon Blazers at the Art Hauser Centre on Feb. 24.
