PAGCC celebrating 50 years
The Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club is marking a milestone anniversary this year with a gala event in September featuring some well-known sports personalities.
The club is celebrating 50 years in the community with a special weekend of events September 21 and 22. The PAGCC officially opened on October 11, 1968.
The event will include a look back at the history of the club, a reception and banquet featuring TSN personality Vic Rauter, and recognition of PAGCC lifetime members Sherry Anderson and Ron Stewart. Anderson is a regular in the curling scene, who skipped Team Canada to a gold medal at the 2018 World Senior Curling Championships. Stewart is a three-time Saskatchewan Amateur Golf Champion.
“It’s very humbling and interesting, that when a person starts out, which is their desire to play a sport, the very last thing in your mind is what will it be like at the end of your career,” Stewart said Tuesday. “There’s many of us who play a lot here, and it’s because we love the game and we don’t play it for other reasons than the love of the game, and what comes of it, over and above that is all gravy.”
