Raiders, Great Western sign exclusive beer supplier partnership

Jul 4, 2018 | 5:00 PM

Patrons gracing the Art Hauser Centre for a Raiders game and looking to down some cold ones will be supporting the Saskatchewan beer market.

The Prince Albert Raiders announced Wednesday they signed a five-year exclusive partnership with Great Western Brewing Company to become the exclusive beer supplier for the team.

“As sponsors of Junior Hockey teams across the province, we’re proud to play a bigger and bigger role in hockey, and in the community it represents,” Great Western CEO Michael Brennan said in a release.

Raiders business manager Michael Scissons said working with a Saskatchewan-based company aligns with the teams commitment to focusing on supporting local business.

“The commitment, dedication, and passion demonstrated by Great Western to grow into one of Canada’s most successful regional brewers are the same attributes they have committed to helping our organization succeed throughout this partnership,” Scissons said.

Great Western’s roots in Saskatoon date back to 1927, operating then as the Hub City Brewing Company. In 1956, the brewery was acquired and operated as O’Keefe Brewing until 1989 when an amalgamation ended the run.
