Dragons lose bite late in home opener
The Saskatchewan Rivers Dragons high school rugby club were about five minutes from picking up a victory in their home opener.
Instead of what could have been a 7-0 Dragons’ victory, they instead ended with a 17-7 defeat.
“I think we got too tired at the end of the game. We didn’t have enough bodies today, we only had a couple subs,” Dragons head coach Justin Derkach said. We played these guys a couple weeks ago, and definitely had improvements here today. The last five minutes was the difference between a win and a loss.
“Our first half, we played great defence. I think it was just the heat and the numbers that really did us in today.”
