Best Workout Facility: Hillside Physical Health & Fitness

Oct 22, 2018 | 11:02 AM

For over 30 years, Hillside Physical Health & Fitness has treated, educated and empowered Prince Albert locals to live an active and healthy lifestyle.  The key to our success has always been the close tie to our clients and a deep commitment to healthy living, wellness and success in sport.

Our spacious gym, fully equipped with machines, free weights and functional strengthening stations, is the only gym in town to utilize turf – much like the gym used by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in their facility in Mozaic stadium.  Prince Albert locals utilize dynamic programming in the gym setting for rehabilitation and athletic enhancement.  Personal training and individual program development is carried out by our university trained Exercise Therapists and public gym memberships are available so our members can work out whenever their schedule allows.  All our staff are gym goers themselves and Christina Vis is a past winner of “Best Fitness Trainer” in the BOB awards.

An inside look at the facility

Co-owner Scott Ward is involved in sports in many ways – an active hockey player himself, coach to his young sons in hockey and baseball – and a dedicated health professional.  He has pioneered a highly attractive sports training program for young athletes after school.  Training programs are tailored to individual sport interests with small groups of diverse athletes training together.  This guarantees the athletes are training to the best of their ability to increase their success in their sport while enjoying the experience with other kids their age.

Hillside has also become a facility for top quality personal training with elite athletes and teams utilizing the gym and the knowledgeable staff.  Teams such as the Prince Albert Mintos, PA Northern Bears, and PA Pirates can be found working out in the gym and getting an update session with Scott or Christina.

Care is always taken to ensure all athletes, whether the beginner or the elite, have the correct program, proper technique and the right sets and reps to ensure the best response to their program.  Safety is a critical part of coaching and training whether in the gym or on the sidelines coaching our young athletes.  Our goal is to help everyone we work with achieve success in their chosen sport or fitness program!
