Rooftop car fire extinguished

Jan 10, 2019 | 4:09 PM

Prince Albert firefighters were forced to employ some different tactics Thursday afternoon.

Around noon members responded to a vehicle fire on the Gateway Mall’s rooftop parking lot.

Prince Albert Fire Department Deputy Chief Corey Rodgers said firefighters laddered the builidng and extinguished the fire which was in the interior cab of the vehicle.

“Unfortunately, there was extensive damages to the interior,” he said.

Because the vehicle was on the roof of the building, Rodgers said it required more equipment and better positioning so members could extinguish the flames.

The fire department responded with three units, the ladder truck, a pumper, and a command unit. In total Rodgers said there were eight members on scene.

Firefighters were on the scene for an hour. No other vehicles or property was damaged, there were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is not known at this time.
