Parking woes continue; City warning against unregistered vehicles
A crackdown by the City of Prince Albert on illegal parking outside the Art Hauser Centre has uncovered a parking issue of a different sort – unregistered vehicles.
Mayor Greg Dionne told a Board of Police Commissioners’ meeting this week that City bylaw officers have spotted a number of unregistered vehicles – those whose insurance has lapsed – in the parking lot during Prince Albert Raiders’ hockey games. Bylaw officers have been monitoring the parking lot during local events to curb illegal parking.
The City has already said it would ticket local drivers for parking on medians and driving along pathways. Fans have been packing the stands to see the red-hot Raiders at home this season, who are back in action again tonight against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
While drivers are getting the message and the Raiders organization has been helping to spread the word about illegal parking, Dionne said the City has still issued 48 parking tickets over the last few weeks. He said the City also can’t ignore vehicles without insurance, or those with disqualified or suspended drivers.
