UPDATE: Suspect in custody following police chase

UPDATE: The Prince Albert Police Service says one person is in custody and charges are pending following a pursuit through the city Tuesday. Police say a male suspect stole a parked FedEx van from the 1400 Block of Central Ave. around 10:45 a.m. The driver of the van was unloading the vehicle when the incident happened. 

A release from the Prince Albert Police Service said police chased the van until it reached the Hazeldell area north of the city and attempted to make a traffic stop. However, the driver ignored the police lights and sirens, and hit the police vehicle, before heading back into Prince Albert and south through the city along Second Ave. W. The driver then continued south toward Saskatoon along Highway 11, at reckless speeds according to police. 

Prince Albert officers coordinated with members of the RCMP to stop the vehicle and the suspect was successfully apprehended in the Hague area.

Traffic through Prince Albert had to get out of the way fast Tuesday because of a chase that took the suspect and several police vehicles south onto Highway 2.

Dash cam footage from one driver shows at least six police vehicles in pursuit of a FedEx van up Second Ave.

Unconfirmed reports say the vehicle was stopped near Hague.
