Pretty in Punk Fest set to rock P.A. over the long weekend

Aug 29, 2018 | 6:00 PM

Hoping to promote the local underground music scene in Prince Albert, a new event is slated to rock the city this weekend with an all-ages music show.

Gabrielle Giroux with the local band, The Wolfe, is one of the organizers of the Pretty in Punk Fest, happening this Saturday at the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club. Giroux said the event will feature a variety of punk, rock and pop sounds.

Bands slated to perform include Bombargo, Black Rain, Killjoy, Between Bridges, along with a variety of local musical acts.

“I think it’s just to make music in general more accessible to more people,” Giroux told paNOW about the event

“All the bands are such an eclectic mix, there’s everything from synth grunge to radio pop, to metal to rock to punk so really, there’s something for everyone there.”

The show will also feature an escape room on site, and a variety of vendors. Giroux said the band is looking forward to playing in Prince Albert again.

The Pretty in Punk Fest will run from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. downstairs at the PAGCC. Advance tickets are on sale now for $30 online, or at a pop-up shop at Price Breakers in Prince Albert Thursday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Tickets will also be available at the door for $40 per person. Kids aged 10 and under get in free.
