Oct 27, 2017 | 8:00 AM

Life in Prince Albert is a lot different than in the suburbs of Seattle, but Raider forward Devon Skoleski is enjoying his first year in Saskatchewan after spending the last two seasons with the Everett Silvertips.

Skoleski joined the Raiders in the offseason, and has been an anchor down the middle for his new team so far. In 12 games played, the 20-year-old has four goals and two assists for six points.

“(Living in Prince Albert) has been good so far. My teammates have been unbelievable, my billets have been unbelievable, and it’s been a really good experience,” Skoleski said before acknowledging there are some adjustments. “We didn’t really get winter there, so the weather is a bit different.”

The native of St. Adolphe, MB has enjoyed playing closer to home this season, and had a huge contingent of family and friends in attendance in Brandon on Oct. 14-15, cheering him and his Raider teammates on.

Wednesday night, Skoleski broke through in the third period with a shorthanded goal, his fourth goal of the season, before assisting on Max Martin’s game winning goal later in the period as the Raiders topped the high-powered Victoria Royals 4-3 at the Art Hauser Centre.

“It was an important win to show all the guys that we can compete with anybody in the league,” Skoleski said as he reflected on the Raiders’ victory over the CHL’s 9th ranked team. “We knew they were a fast team, we just tried to play our system and stay on the right side of the puck, and I think we did that.”

Tonight, the Raiders’ focus shifts to the Brandon Wheat Kings, who are making their first visit to the Art Hauser Centre this season. The Wheat Kings took a pair of wins in the previous two meetings in Brandon, one coming in regulation and the other in overtime.

“I think we just have to keep doing what we’re doing and build off last game,” Skoleski said on the matchup with the Wheat Kings. “Last game was a big motivation for us, and i think we’ve just got to keep building off that.”

Friday night’s game is Pink in the Rink night at the Art Hauser Centre, as the Raiders will be using pink skate laces, pink tape, and pink towels on the bench. As part of the night, the team will be auctioning off three sticks, signed by Cole Fonstad, Parker Kelly, and Max Martin, with proceeds going to the Prince Albert Cancer Society (PACC).
