Family lost everything in fire

Jan 15, 2011 | 6:35 AM

A fire Thursday night left a family out in the cold.

Don Bruce lost his home. He lived in a mobile home in a trailer park just north of Prince Albert with his wife, daughter and two granddaughters – one an infant.

“The worst of it is we lost two cats, my granddaughter thought they were still alive this morning, but they weren’t,” he said.

Bruce got the call from his wife telling him the house was on fire. He was shovelling snow at Nordale Hall at the time. His wife immediately went home when she found out.

There was nobody in the home at the time of the fire. Neighbours called 911 when they saw flames.

By the time firefighters arrived, the house was engulfed in flames – the family lost everything.

“They said it started in the back someplace, but not really sure,” he said.

The family has received some donations of clothing. Lakeland Ford, where Bruce works is currently accepting donations of money and other items for the family. Yesterday afternoon they had already raised $3,000.

The family is currently staying with family who live in the area.
