Raiders stop Swift Current 6-1

The Prince Albert Raiders defeated the Swift Current Broncos 6-1 on Wednesday night in Prince Albert.

Jonathan Parker, Justin Maylan and Igor Revenko combined for 11 points in the victory while rookie goaltender Eric Williams stopped 42 of 43 shots to pick up his 12th win of the season.

The Raiders opened the scoring 6:06 into the game with a power play goal. Igor Revenko put in his first of two in the game after he was left alone in front and was able to tap in a cross crease pass from Justin Maylan to make it 1-0.

Jonathan Parker extended the lead to two when he was able to receive a Justin Maylan pass from behind the net and shoot it over the shoulder of Bronco goaltender Mark Friesen to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead heading into the second.

The Raiders extended their lead to three early in the second when Justin Maylan skated around the net to end up in the slot and redirected a Shane Danyluk pass past Friesen to make it 3-0.

The Raiders would get their second power play goal midway through the second when Jonathan Parker collected a loose puck at the side of the net and rifled it past Friesen, picking up his 36th of the year and giving the Raiders a 4-0 lead. After allowing 4 goals on 17 shots, goaltender Mark Friesen was replaced with Mark Smith for the remainder of the game.

Todd Fiddler and Antoine Corbin would score before the period was over to cap off a four goal second period for the Raiders. The Broncos would score late in the frame to make it 6-1 Raiders heading into the third.

There was no scoring in the final frame giving the Raiders the 6-1 victory. Jonathan Parker finished the night with 1 goal, 3 assists and a +3 rating while Justin Maylan ended up with 1 goal and 4 assists. Line mate Igor Revenko scored 2 to give the line a combined 11 points in the victory.

The Raiders improve to 49 points and are tied with the Broncos for 7th place in the Eastern Conference.
