Lingenfelter argues for higher potash royalties
NDP leader Dwain Lingenfelter is pressing the provincial government to get more potash royalties from mining companies.
Alberta suffered when it raised its oil royalties, but Lingenfelter argued Saskatchewan has a much larger advantage.
“Comparing it with Alberta oil just isn’t relevant, because Alberta has about one per cent of the world’s oil and we have 30 per cent of the world’s potash, so we are in a much, much stronger position to have this kind of a review,” he said.
Lingenfelter insisted it wouldn't be greedy to require more money from mining companies.
