A blustery day on Saskatchewan highways
It hasn’t been a great day for highway travel in central Saskatchewan. Many drivers encountered poor visibility today because of blowing snow.
The high winds of the day prompted Environment Canada to issue a blowing snow warning which stretched from Kindersley to Melville and Yorkton, north to Wakaw and Rosthern and south to Outlook.
As of 6 p.m. that warning remained in affect and was expected to continue well into the evening.
The department of highways issued its own advisories today as driving conditions worsened. As of 6 p.m. travel was not recommended on all highways leading out of Saskatoon. The travel advisory stretches north to Wakaw and east to Humboldt. The province is also advising against travel in the Biggar and Kindersley regions.
