The Easter Bunny hopped his way to Prince Albert over the weekend, and with the help of a few friends hid eggs all over the Gateway Mall.

La Societe canadienne-francaise de Prince Albert (the French Canadian Society of Prince Albert) added to the bunny’s usual fun by hosting its first annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday.

The mall was abuzz with children playing games, tracking down paper Easter eggs, and visiting with the Easter Bunny throughout the day.

The French Canadian Society’s assistant director, Dawn Krohn, had previously said they had a goal of raising cultural awareness by showing “people that there is a large Francophone community in the city.”

This was accomplished as the society added its own cultural flair by playing French music and speaking French.

Most members speak English just as well as French, making it “very, very enjoyable, very fun for us to get together and just have fun activities in French,” Krohn said.

This isn’t the only activity that’s connected the society with children in Prince Albert.

They also hosted an early childhood program called “Parents et Petits” on Saturday morning at John M. Cuelenaere Library. The French story and playtime sessions are for children from newborns to five years old.

The society will host another session including games, songs, books, crafts, and snacks on April 25.
