Students at St. Mary High School beat up a car as best they could with a sledgehammer – and it was part of an effort to raise awareness about the dangers of destructive behaviours.
The idea came from the Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) organization at the school. The event gave students in the group an opportunity to speak to other students about driving while intoxicated, texting or using drugs.
“We call it our Buck-A-Whack car smash,” said 16-year-old Grade 11 student Cassandra Deforest, “It was a group collective idea.”
