Saskatchewan health records beginning to modernize
A new system is bringing immunizations in Saskatchewan to the modern age.
On Tuesday, the provincial government celebrated the use of a new, electronic health database. “Panorama” has put the vaccination and immunization information for everyone with a Saskatchewan health card online for public health nurses to access.
“[It will help] in the management of the vaccines, the proper utilization, and not double immunizing,” explained Rural and Remote Health Minister Greg Ottenbreit. “Also efficiently knowing where the vaccines are, and where they’re needed.”
Public health nurses, like Kathy Sherling with the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region, no longer need to rely on paper health records when it comes to immunizations and vaccines.
