Saskatoon woman arrested in vehicle theft

A Saskatoon woman has made her first court appearance following an incident with police.

Around 10:30 Thursday morning police were called to the 400 block of 9th Street East for complaints of a theft. 

A witness saw a man take a television hidden in some shrubs in the area and put it into an SUV before driving off.

Police were able to find the vehicle quickly which they discovered had been reported as stolen from Saskatoon.

When they attempted to pull the driver over, the SUV stopped quickly and two people got out and ran away on foot.

Police called in the service dog Daxa to help locate the suspects.

Officers were able to track down a 21-year-old woman however the other suspect who had fled, a man, got away.

The woman faces charges of stolen property over $5000 and breach of conditional discharge.

She made her first court appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court this morning.

Police are still investigating and are asking anyone with information to call them at 306-953-4222 or call Crime Stoppers.
