TRC gathering in Saskatoon’s Victoria Park

Jun 2, 2015 | 12:34 PM

A special gathering is bringing together members of the aboriginal and church communities in Saskatoon’s Victoria Park.

Residential school survivors among others are sharing their experiences and stories of forgiveness at the “Journey Together On The Path To Reconciliation.”

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission released a report Tuesday with 94 recommendations. Justice Murray Sinclair says the residential school experience is clearly one of the darkest and most troubling chapters in our collective history and that it was nothing short of “cultural genocide.’

The event in Victoria Park runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes entertainment, a balloon launch, and a community lunch.
