Team Sask finishes strong at summer games

Prince Albert’s Brooke Hobson passed the torch for Team Saskatchewan at Sunday night’s closing ceremonies of the Western Canada Summer Games in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Hobson, who was competing in golf, finished 4th on Sunday.

Team Saskatchewan ended up with 127 medals (22 gold, 42 silver and 63 bronze), fourth overall behind Manitoba, Alberta, and BC.

Prince Albert and area athletes also did very well at the games.

On Sunday, the boys’ indoor volleyball team took bronze. Members of the team include Graeson Bergen, Matt Meyer, Coles Sanderson and Daulton Sinoski.

Also on Sunday, the ladies softball team finished third.  Prince Albert’s Jessica Vance, Haley Acton, Mckenzie Acton and Carly Zoltok are all members of that team.

 

Other local medal winners include:

 

Katelyn Lehner — gold (Hurdles, Heptathalon) and silver(long jump)

Breanna Hammel – silver (high jump)

Miranda Bellisle — silver and bronze (judo)

Megan Neuman — silver and bronze (judo)

Ihor Pryschepa — gold and silver (judo)

Josh Guthrie – silver (wrestlig)

Angela Lavoie — bronze (women’s indoor volleyball)
