Restrictions lifted at Victoria Hospital

The Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit at Victoria Hospital no longer has restrictions in place.

Access to the Mental Health Unit was restricted on Monday after two inpatients and one staff member had symptoms of a serious gastrointestinal illness on the weekend. 

The gastrointestinal illness outbreak was declared over on Wednesday.

The Health Region is still waiting for the results of samples that were sent for laboratory testing to determine the organism that caused the outbreak.
