Team prepares minds and bodies for Amazing Race Prince Albert

Sep 11, 2015 | 6:17 AM

One team entering Saturday’s Amazing Race fundraiser in Prince Albert is hoping a combination of brains and brawn will lead to success.

Danielle Carter and Chantelle Rodgers Detillieux of 4 Horsemen Fitness have been training for the fundraising event put on by Big Brothers Big Sisters and Team 4 Hope Prince Albert.

Carter said she and Detillieux are good friends, and excellent teammates.

“We’re pretty good yin and yang,” said Carter, “I am going to draw on her strengths and then she’s going to draw on my strengths.”

Carter said besides raising money for the event, she and Detillieux have been working to be in the best possible mental and physical shape.

“We’ve been doing runs, a lot of circuit training,” said Carter, “[But] more googling what possible things will be in the Amazing Race. I know you have to do some running in it, but I know it’s a lot of brain stuff.”

Carter said it’s her goal to run a good race, whether her team wins or not.

“Any race that I’ve ever went into personally … I’ve just went in to finish and have a lot of fun.”

Carter said Team 4 Hope is an organization close to her heart and one she supports regularly.

“We have, as a family, donated to them,” said Carter, “They have taken us under [their] wing with constant reminders of how amazing what they do [is] and how they fundraise for Prince Albert and for little kids who have cancer.”

“I hope I can make them proud.”

Organizers are still looking for more teams for the race. Registration begins at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gateway Mall.
