“We’ll have a wager before the game starts. I’m thinking about a few things,” Fougere smiled, though he couldn’t offer what that might be.

Wearing green in the heart of blue and gold territory is sure to illicit some jokes and shots from fans. If there’s a fan base that knows about friendly ribbing, it’s Rider Nation. Premier Brad Wall put that on full display in 2013, showcasing his banjo skills. 

It’s no different this year as Saskatchewan fans from across the country are having a little fun at the expense of the Bombers.

“Here in Kelowna, I’m just sharpening up my banjo skills just like Premier Brad Wall, getting for the Banjo Bowl on Saturday,” said a girl wearing a white Rider jersey in a video.

“And after we can make some wine for those Bomber fans. They’re gonna need it,” quipped a boy in a green jersey holding a basket of grapes.

Winnipeg won the first meeting between the teams in Week 1 30-26. The Riders bounced back in the second game, winning 37-19 in the Labour Day Classic.
