Investigation begins after body found in North Central Regina home
The Regina Police major crimes unit and the provincial coroner are investigating a death after a body was discovered in the attic of a house on Athol Street.
Police were called just before 3 p.m. after confirming that the person found in the home was deceased. Forensic investigators spent the next couple of hours going in and out of the house taking notes and pictures to document evidence.
One woman told a News Talk Radio reporter that she lives in the house. She would not answer any questions on the record, but she looked shocked and confused as she talked with a police officer on the scene.
A few hours later, Regina Fire Services brought three fire trucks and an aerial platform to the scene. Fire fighters used a chainsaw and hatchet to cut a large hole through the roof to gain access to the attic. A forensic photographer documented the scene, then the coroner supervised as the body was removed on a stretcher.
