Barlage’s shootout winner lifts Mintos 5-4 over Trojans
If Sunday’s game taught us anything, the future looks bright for the Prince Albert Mintos.
Logan Barlage, who’s still bantam aged with his 2001 birth year, scored the game-winner in a shootout to give the Mintos a 5-4 shootout victory over the Tisdale Trojans at the Art Hauser Centre. That evens the Mintos’ preseason record to 1-1 after Saturday’s 6-3 loss to the Saskatoon Blazers.
Barlage’s stickhandled in on goal but as he went to go to his backhand, the puck continued to roll and squeaked between the wickets of Trojans goaltender Kye Steinke.
“He’s going to be a good hockey player, man, we’re sure glad we got our hooks into him,” said Mintos head coach Tim Leonard. “He wasn’t the only young fella out there, there were a lot of young guys out there tonight that showed quite well but a guy like him, he’s a goal scorer and he wants to score.
