Community Cultural Plan

Sep 25, 2015 | 3:58 PM

Our community of Prince Albert is going through an important planning and visioning process, including the final steps of updating the Official Community Plan, a broad municipal policy framework to guide growth and development in the city.

We are now working on the development of other specific plans that complement this process including transportation, neighbourhood, and cultural planning.

We are asking you to be a part of developing our community’s Cultural Plan.

Through this process, we will be exploring how we can become a stronger cultural community that supports creativity and innovation. It will also identify specific action steps that can make our community’s cultural portfolio stronger and more accessible, sustainable, and diverse.

With your help during the first phase of developing the Cultural Plan, we will explore questions such as:

  • What is Prince Albert’s vision for its cultural future?
  • What cultural opportunities do residents want for themselves and for their children?
  • How can broad access to opportunities in creative play, learning, and work be promoted?
  • Are we making the best use of our cultural facilities and amenities?
  • What structures and resources are necessary to strengthen and sustain our cultural community?

The information collected through this phase will be utilized in the next phase of creating a vision-based Cultural Plan to enable the vibrant expression of Prince Albert’s unique culture, including the tangible and intangible expression of values, traditions, and beliefs.

Please join one of the following four focus groups that will be held at the Prince Albert Arts Centre (Heritage Room), 1010 Central Avenue. Please select a time that works best for you during the morning or afternoon of October 1st or 2nd, 2015:

Thursday, October 1st

Focus Group #1 – Morning, 10:00am    or   Focus Group #2 – Afternoon, 1:00pm

Friday, October 2nd

Focus Group #3 – Morning, 9:00am     or   Focus Group #4 – Afternoon, 3:00pm

Please feel free to forward this invitation to other community organizations, agencies, and stakeholders that you believe should be engaged and would benefit through this process.

Of note, there will also be a community-wide luncheon on Friday, October 2nd (12:00pm) at the Margo Fournier Centre; please see attached a poster containing information about the event.  Please consider sharing the poster through your networks.
