A man from Prince Albert who was charged after a controversial video was posted to social media, is maintaining his innocence.

Arsheep Cheema has entered not guilty pleas and will appear Sept. 22, 2026 for trial at Prince Albert Provincial Court. In connection to the events that occurred last August, he was charged with unauthorized possession of a gun, careless use of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

The video that was shared with police showed a group of men handling firearms while in a vehicle. The video was recorded in a rural area in the RM of Duck Lake and was set to cultural music.

At one point, a man can be seen standing with a gun and appears to fire a shot into the distance while others watch. No injuries were reported in connection to the incident.

Officers later recovered the two firearms and stated the incident was isolated in nature. Some online users speculated that the purpose of the guns was to kidnap local women and girls for human trafficking. However another source close to the incident told paNOW the men were filming a “music video.”

Also charged was Priyanka (one name only) of Prince Albert, and on April 28, he entered a guilty plea to transferring firearms without authority.

He received a nine-month conditional discharge, meaning as long as he can follow his court-ordered conditions, he won’t have a criminal record.
