Drive-by shooting results in prison sentence

Oct 10, 2026 | 9:00 AM

A man who shot up a house in Prince Albert’s West Flat neighbourhood to settle a score, is now serving a five-and-a-half year prison sentence.

Thorne McKay entered guilty pleas to several gun-related offences.

On the morning of March 30, 2025, a green Land Rover was observed travelling in the Hazeldell area and stopped at a house on Oxford Street.

McKay, who was sitting in the back seat, fired two shots at the house, hitting the siding and window.

At the time, there were three people inside the house, but no one suffered any physical injuries.

According to a social media post by McKay, one of the occupants of the home was a known gang member, who had tried to set him up and so he was going to “hit” him up, or enact revenge.

The vehicle was located by police in the river heights neighbourhood and all three occupants were arrested. An air pistol, a revolver and a shotgun were seized by police.

There was also a spent shotgun cartridge.

While in custody, McKay was examined by officers and there was gun residue found on both his hands and face.
