Trial dates set for La Ronge taxi sex assault case

Trial dates have now been set for two men from the La Ronge area, charged with sexual assault after a woman was attacked during a cab ride.

The pre-trial hearing took place at Court of King’s Bench in Prince Albert on Sept. 25. Akshar Desai and Keshav Dhillon will reappear for a jury trial on April 5, 2027. One week has been set aside for the case.

On Sept. 20, 2025, La Ronge RCMP received a report of a sexual assault. The investigation determined a woman was taking a cab, which was occupied by a male driver and a second man.

The cab stopped while on its route, and it is alleged the occupants then attempted to sexually assault the female. The woman was able to eventually escape.
