Prince Albert’s homeless offered Day of Sharing

Sep 11, 2026 | 5:15 PM

Free haircuts, a BBQ and warm clothes were all part of an event Friday meant for those in Prince Albert who are unhoused.

Gloria, 62, was among dozens people offered a free trim outside the Prince Albert Grand Council Relatives’ Lodge on the Exhibition Grounds.

“It already feels lighter and clean,” she remarked. “It’s exciting.”

PAGC Relatives’ Lodge was selected as the recipient of Northern Lights Casino’s 2026 SIGA Day of Sharing, an initiative reflecting the spirit of Wîtaskêwin and a commitment to giving back through time, resources and volunteer support. Gloria has been at the shelter for about four months and said she appreciates all the help she’s been offered.

“They make you feel welcome, and they don’t make you feel down about yourself.”

In addition to the barbecue, Northern Lights Casino also contributed a new fridge/freezer, care kits, essential clothing items, and food and pantry supplies to the Lodge. Its maintenance repair team is volunteering its time to complete minor repairs throughout the facility.

Acting customer experience manager David Head noted it was a volunteer initiative and is a way of helping people who need it.

“It warms the heart, fills our cups, and it makes us feel valued within the community.”

PAGC Grand Chief Brian Hardlotte was proud of the work being done

“It makes me feel comforted and very happy to see the organizations. I thank SIGA and the Northern Lights Casino for selecting the Relatives Lodge for this beautiful event.”
