St. Mary annual senior boys volleyball tournament signals start of high school season
The sights and sounds of the collegiate volleyball season have returned to high school gymnasiums across the province, with over a dozen boys’ teams finding themselves in Prince Albert to kick off the season.
The St. Mary Marauders’ annual boys volleyball tournament got underway on Friday afternoon to kick off what will be a busy season ahead of regionals and provincials in November.
Marauders senior boys coach Rene Quintal said it’s a good opportunity to gauge where they stack up against other schools and to help get their feet wet with some competition as a group.
“I think we’re fortunate we have a solid group of players that have been playing together for multiple years, starting with club volleyball and our junior team two years ago,” he said, adding they graduated four players last year. “We’re really excited that we have a strong group that wants to play a tight defensive game.”
